THE JAPANESE CRAFT GIN

Roku is a Japanese word that means "six." Every bottle of Roku Gin contains six unique botanicals sourced in Japan. These reflect Suntory's dedication to using only the finest ingredients sourced from Japan's best growing regions. Japanese artisans who follow a centuries-old tradition of meticulous attention to detail in every aspect makes Roku Gin.

Roku Gin's ingredients are not only of the finest quality, but many are also peculiar to Japan and thus better understood by Japanese artisans. Suntory's knowledge and mastery of this method comes from decades of gin production. As a result of the unique characteristics that each botanical brings to Roku Gin's perfectly balanced blend, Suntory created its own multiple distillation method.

Taste Profile

Nose:

Cherry blossoms with green tea gives off a sweet floral aroma.

Palate:

The flavor of different botanicals is complex, multi-layered, and yet harmonious. In the foundation, there's a traditional gin flavor, as well as Japanese botanical notes, with yuzu as the top note. The texture is silky and smooth.

Finish:

The crisp Japanese sansho pepper brings a slight spice.

Craft

The “Liquor Atelier,” a specialized artisan distillery for Suntory spirits and liquor, produces ROKU. The Atelier has four different types of pot stills, and the botanicals are distilled separately according to each aspect of the botanicals, in a process peculiar to ROKU, to obtain the best flavor and preserve their individual characteristics. 

For example, vacuum distillation in stainless pot stills extracts the delicate fragrance of cherry blossom, while copper pot stills extract the deep flavor of yuzu. The unique Japanese sensitivity captured in the mixing of the carefully formulated extracts of the 14 botanicals is the source of ROKU's nuanced, yet harmonious flavor.
