Background: A Divine Inspiration
The original belgian wheat beer was created 6 centuries ago in the belgian village of Hoegaarden. A band of monks experimented on their wheat beer with botanicals they imported from sunny Curacao - orange peel, coriander and herbs. The hoegaarden today is inspired by the original creation. A beer with refreshing flavour of citrus and a captivating aroma of earthly coriander that is known to alleviate stresses of modern living and remind you of heaven on earth.
Flavour Profile
The Color
Light yellow and naturally murky
The Nose
Aroma of orange peel, coriander and herbs
Mouth
Smooth, light-bodied, simultaneously sweet and sour with subtle spiced citrus notes
Food Pairing
Pair Hoegaarden with all things fresh, salad, Belgian steamed mussels and Mediterranean style foods.
A Special Hexagonal Glass
As with most beer glassware, there is logic to the shape. Hoegaarden has its own sturdy and flat-bottomed hexagonal glass. The hexagon shape cultivates a wider mouth that lets the citrus, spice and bready aromatics catapult into an individual's nasal passage as they sip.
